Tattoo is painful reminder of Nick Wright's 20-0 Chiefs prediction

Fox Sports analyst Nick Wright’s bold Chiefs proclamation is already down the tubes after just one week, but it will live on his left arm forever.

Wright predicted that his beloved Chiefs would run the table in 2023 and be the first team to go undefeated in the regular season and win the Super Bowl.

“I can’t find a loss, drop the banner,” Wright said on “First Things First” before unveiling a banner hanging from the Fox studio reading, “Never a Doubt, Chiefs go 20-0.”

At least Wright put his body where his mouth is.

“This is not just foolish television nonsense; this is, I truly believe this, and I’ll prove it to you. Tatted on my arm, as of this week,” Wright said, showing a tattoo with the words “Never A Doubt” written across the bottom of his left wrist and forearm.

His bold prediction was gone before it started for the Chiefs as they went down in the season opener to the Lions on Thursday, 21-20.

However, Wright’s love for the Chiefs came well before any rumblings of a Travis Kelce knee issue forced him to miss the season opener.

Wright said that he didn’t want Kelce to play once the injury news came out, but not because he was concerned about reinjury, saying he’s “mostly indestructible.”

“The reason I don’t want Travis to play is because I want the Chiefs to send a message to the entire NFL,” Wright said.

“I want, without the best defensive player in the sport, Chris Jones, without the best tight end ever who is also the biggest weapon in the sport against a trendy Super Bowl, pick the frisky Detroit Lions for the Chiefs to lay the smackdown on ’em without two of their three best players.

“Throwing passes to Kadarius Toney and Justyn Ross and Noah Gray and to leave no question whatsoever who the team to beat in the league this year is.”

Ross would go on to hardly play in Thursday’s game, grabbing one pass for just six yards, while Toney dropped three critical passes and is one of the main culprits for the loss.

Going undefeated always was going to be a tall task, as the Chiefs’ schedule lines them against Eagles, Bills, and Bengals in a brutal stretch starting Nov. 20 and lasting through end of the year.
