Manti Malietau On January 26, 1991, Louis Te’o, a former linebacker in American football, was born. Te’o played collegiate football for Notre Dame, where he was a consensus All-American and earned eight national accolades.

Te’o was the victim of a serious catfishing incident when Naya Tuiasosopo created a false online persona called Lennay Kekua and started dating her in 2012.

Te’o played for the Punahou School in Honolulu, a private co-ed school where he had also gone to middle school. Te’o made a strong start to his varsity career in 2006, earning selection to the second-team all-state roster as a sophomore.

While still a junior in 2007, Te’o received the Gatorade State Player of the Year and Honolulu Advertiser State Defensive Player of the Year accolades.

He was named to the first team of the state after accumulating 400 rushing yards and ten touchdowns as a running back, as well as 90 defensive tackles and five sacks. Te’o received a lot of interest from colleges and recruiters during the process.
