Caroline Rhea is the youngest of three daughters of David, an obstetrician and gynecologist, and Marjorie Rhea, an antiques dealer. She received her education at a private school in Quebec, followed by Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia. Having decided to become a stand-up comedian, Rhea moved to New York when she was twenty five, in order to attend the New School for Social Research.

She came by her success gradually, first doing gigs at the comedy club – Catch the Rising Star. At the time, she also appeared on MTV’s Half-Hour Comedy Hour, Comic Strip Live and Caroline’s Comedy Hour, which boosted her reputation as a comedienne. However, Rhea decided to try her luck in Hollywood, and subsequently moved to Los Angeles. There she made her debut in the television series Pride & Joy (1995), alongside Jeremy Piven, Craig Bierko, and Julie Warner, which ran for just six episodes, but Rhea was soon cast in her most important role to date, that of Hilda Spellman, the spell-caster aunt of the titular witch Sabrina, in “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” (1996-2003), which made Rhea a household name, and opened many other opportunities for her, such as the offer to replace Kathie Lee Gifford in “Live with Regis”. While that offer didn’t come to fruition, Rhea went on to take over “The Rosie O’Donnell Show” (1996-2002), which was then renamed “The Caroline Rhea Show” (2002- ).

Rhea’s other notable television roles include Bonnie in “The Drew Carrie Show” (1996), Ilsa on “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” (2005-2006), and the voice of Linda Flynn-Fletcher in the animated musical comedy television series “Phineas and Ferb” (2007-2015); Rhea appeared in 201 episode of this show, which increased her net worth significantly. She was also the original host of the reality show “The Biggest Loser” (2004-2006), lasting three seasons. Rhea has also produced twelve episodes of “The Biggest Loser”, as well as the television film “Caroline Rhea & Friends” (2011).

As for the big screen, Caroline mostly stuck with comedy, displaying her ability in movies such as “Man on the Moon” (1999), a biopic about American entertainer Andy Kauffman, where she appeared alongside Jim Carey, Danny DeVito, Paul Giamatti, and Courtney Love. She also portrayed Candi in the Christmas comedy film “Christmas with the Kranks” (2004), with Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis, and Gloria in “The Perfect Man” (2005) with Hilary Duff and Heather Locklear.

Rhea continues to act and host, and her most recent credits include hosting the celebrity “Family Feud” in 2015, and guest-starring in the sitcom “2 Broke Girls” (2015), which also increased her net worth.

Regarding her personal life, Caroline Rhea was married to Costaki Economopoulos from 2007 to 2010, and together they have one daughter. In her spare time, Rhea enjoys practicing yoga and crocheting.
